Production of crude steel by the countries of the world reporting to the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), increased slightly during September this year. Monthly production data show that production in the 64 reporting countries of the association grew by almost 2.9% over the previous year. In 2019, these countries accounted for almost 99% of the total global crude steel production.
Crude steel production in China showed modest growth, while production in all other major producing countries fell sharply. The country, whose production volume was 92.555 million tons, accounts for almost 60% of world steel production.
