According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), for the week ended October 17, crude steel production in the United States amounted to about 1.54 million short tons, an increase of 2.2% over the same period a week ago and declining by 15.% over the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 69.4%, up 1.5% over the week and down 8.6% year on year.
As of the week ending October 17, crude steel production in the United States this year was about 62.5 million short tons, down 19.4% from a year earlier. The production capacity utilization rate was 66.3%, which is 13.8% less than a year earlier.
