LIBERTY Steel Group announced the appointment of Mr. Paramjit Kahlon as CEO of the Primary Steel and Integrated Development Division of LIBERTY Steel Group. This newly created role will integrate all of LIBERTY’s core steelmaking and integrated mining operations into a single global structure to ensure synergy and efficiency.
Mr. Kahlon held senior management positions at ArcelorMittal from 2008 to 2009, including as Chief Technology Officer, Chief Operating Officer and most recently as CEO for the CIS and the Middle East. Paramjit will oversee all of LIBERTY Steel Group’s major metallurgical plants located in Ostrava in the Czech Republic, Galati in Romania and in Whyalla and Tahmur in Australia.
In the near term, he will focus on the COVID-19 crisis and then on ensuring the long-term sustainability of operations through investments in low-carbon technologies such as hydrogen, DRI and electric arc furnaces.
In April 2020, LIBERTY Steel Group announced the creation of a board of directors, which includes executive and independent non-executive directors. LIBERTY Steel Group will publish its first consolidated set of invoices for the year ending March 2020 later this year.
