A man died in a workplace accident at a metallurgical plant in Port Kemble after being sandwiched between a car and a crane.
BlueScope confirmed that the man was a Southern Commercial Divers employee and that operations at the marina had been suspended pending an investigation into his death. BlueScope Chief Operating Officer Dave Bell said: “This person, a Southern Commercial Divers employee, worked at the jetty known as Pier 112. Emergency services were called in, but the person could not be recovered. BlueScope has shut down operations at the marina until police say operations may resume. This is an unexpected and tragic event that shook the entire site. ”
NSW and Wollongong County Police are investigating the circumstances of his death.
