Ukrzaliznytsia is ready to schedule trains and restore commuter traffic when the government begins to lift quarantine restrictions. This was reported by the carrier’s press service on May 12 in response to a request from Radio Liberty. According to the response, Ukrzaliznytsia already has an action plan to restore traffic.
“The plan provides for the resumption of commuter trains in two stages. At the first stage, the running of 745 commuter trains will be restored to provide transportation of citizens to the workplace during peak hours, at the second stage, we plan to appoint another 571 trains, and thus fully restore suburban rail traffic, ”the response says. At the same time, according to a report on the company’s website, due to undercompensation for the travel of privileged passengers at the first stage of restoration of the message, Ukrzaliznytsia will receive less than 279.5 million hryvnia per month, on the second – another 224.5 million.
The Cabinet of Ministers introduced quarantine in Ukraine from March 12 due to the COVID-19 threat, now it has been extended until May 22. Including suburban and intercity rail transportation is prohibited
