“In April, steel production fell by 20% compared to the previous month. Compared to April last year, the losses are minus 27%,” the association said in a statement. .
As reported, Ukraine produced 7.489 million tons of steel in four months of 2019. It was also reported that in Q1-2020, steel production decreased by 3% compared to the same period last year – to 5.342 million tons. At the same time, in March 2020, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 1.560 million tons of rolled steel (92.1% compared to March 2019), 1.789 million tons of steel (90.9%), 1.750 million tons of pig iron (95.4%).
At the end of 2019, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises reduced steel production by 1% compared to 2018 – to 20.848 million tons, production of general rolled products – also by 1%, to 18.387 million tons, pig iron production fell by 2%, to 20.064 million tons.
