Ukraine reduced steel production by 1.9%

Ukraine, following the results of the work of metallurgical enterprises in July 2020, reduced steel production by 1.9% compared to the same period in 2019 – to 1.751 million tons, moving from 13th to 12th place in the ranking of 64 countries the world’s major manufacturers of these products, compiled by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).

In July, a drop in steel production was recorded by July-2019 in most of the top ten countries, except for China, Turkey, Iran and Brazil. At the same time, the largest decrease in steel production was recorded in the United States – by 29.4%.

The top ten steel-producing countries in July are as follows: China (93.359 million tons, an increase of 9.1%), India (7.150 million tons, a drop of 24.6%), Japan (6.049 million tons, a fall of 27.9%), Russia (5.8 million tons, “minus” 5%), South Korea (5.526 million tons, minus 8.3%), the USA (5.241 million tons, a decrease of 29.4%), Turkey (3.143 million tons, an increase of 7.4%), Brazil (2.592 million tons, an increase of 3.5%) , Germany (2.423 million tons, “minus” 24.7%) and Iran (2.339 million tons, an increase of 14.4%).

Vietnam follows (2.149 million tons, an increase of 19.8 %), Ukraine (1.751 million tons, a decrease of 1.9%), Italy (1.750 million tons, a drop of 11.2%) and Taiwan (PRC, 1.750 million tons, a decrease of 6.8%), as well as Mexico (1.150 million tons, “minus” 22.6%).

In July, 64 countries produced 152.694 million tons of steel, which is 2.5% lower than in July-2019.

For seven months of this year, the top ten countries steel producers looks like this: China (593.174 million tons, an increase of 2.8%), India (50.277 million tons, “minus” 24.3%), Japan (48.277 million tons, a decrease of 18.8%), the USA ( 41.640 million tons, “minus” 19.5%), Russia (41.054 million tons, less by 3.2%), South Korea (38.018 million tons, a drop of 9.6%), Germany (19.880 million tons, “minus “16.9%), Turkey (19.433 million tons,” minus “2.4%), Brazil (17.072 million tons, a drop of 13.9%) and Iran (16.225 million tons, up 10.8%).

Vietnam (13.055 million tons, an increase of 8.4%), Taiwan (China, 12.465 million tons, “minus” 6.3%), Ukraine (11.855 million tons, “minus” 6 , 8%), Italy (11.828 million tons, a drop of 18.5%) and Mexico (9.276 million tons, a decrease of 17%).

In total, in seven months of 2020, 64 countries produced 1 billion 27.409 million tons of steel, which is 5.3% less than in the same period last year.

Ukraine produced 20.8 million tons of steel in 2019 and took the 13th place (in 2018 – 21 , 1 million tons, 13th place).
