All four new EffiShunter 1600 locomotives are already in ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih

The company was the first in Ukraine to start using new generation Czech locomotives Kryvyi Rih, April 9, 2021 ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih received two new locomotives of the EffiShunter 1600 series produced by the company CZ Loko (Czech Republic). This is the final delivery under the 2019 contract. The first car was met in Krivoy Rog in December last year and was successfully put into operation. At the beginning of 2021, the second such diesel locomotive arrived at the enterprise. Now Czech specialists are unpacking and completing two more new locomotives. The total amount of the contract is 7,500,000 euros. Nazariy Rozhko, Key Account Manager, CZ Loko – We are very pleased that ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was the first in Ukraine to start using Czech shunting locomotives of the new generation. They are extremely economical and convenient. They are powered by a 1550 kilowatt Caterpillar diesel engine and a Siemens traction generator. The locomotives are equipped with a digital control system, a system for monitoring the consumption of fuel and lubricants, cruise control, electrodynamic brakes and anti-slip protection. In particular, computer software makes it possible to control the operation of a locomotive from any place on Earth via the Internet. Thus, we can track both the movement of the machine and the operation of all its systems. In addition, we can even carry out diagnostics of diesel locomotives from a distance. In addition, the locomotives have rather high traction characteristics – 1000 kilowatts and a low level of fuel consumption. Of course, it all depends on the style of locomotive driving, conditions of use, but on average, the fuel economy is 25-30%, compared to the old equipment. Alexey Rybalkin, Director of the Transport Department, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih – Our Czech colleagues still have several tasks. They are adjusting the new locomotives and will carry out the first maintenance of the two locomotives that arrived earlier and are already in operation. In the future, our partners will conduct appropriate training and we plan to deal with the next maintenance ourselves. We are glad that we are gradually building up our efficient railway fleet. The advantages of the new locomotives are high reliability and sound insulation, environmental friendliness, good visibility, and safety of service. It is planned that the first two of the four CZ Loko locomotives will be used to transport raw materials for our largest blast furnace No. 9. The task of two more new locomotives will be to transport the concentrate from the production sites of the mining department. Details: EffiShunter 1600 locomotives have extended service intervals. There are four types of them in total. The first is service after two months of operation from the start of operation, the second is service after 12 months, and the third is after six years of machine operation. And finally, the fourth level – once every 12 years. Such systemic “care” for locomotives allows timely prevention of technical problems and thus saving. EffiShunter 1600 diesel locomotives are optimized for shunting and heavy work on industrial tracks, in particular in the metallurgical and mining industries. These are modern machines equipped with a Caterpillar 1550 kilowatt diesel engine and a Siemens traction generator. They are equipped with a digital control system, cruise control, electrodynamic brakes and anti-slip protection. Background: In the summer of 2019, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih signed a contract under a financial leasing scheme with the support of OTP Leasing for the supply of four locomotives manufactured by CZ Loko (Czech Republic). In the conditions of quarantine at the borders between the countries, the delivery was nevertheless successfully carried out, and all four locomotives manufactured by CZ Loko will soon be in operation at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
