General Director of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine and the Mayor of Kryvyi Rih opened a museum of mining equipment Kryvyi Rih, November 16, 2018 Today in Kryvyi Rih an open-air museum of mining equipment was opened for all residents and guests of the city. Its opening was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol and General Director of the BelAZ company Petr Parkhomchik. The ceremony was opened by the General Director of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Paramzhit Kalon. Mayor Yury Vilkul, heads of city enterprises, veterans and employees of the mining department of the enterprise also took part in it.
Paramzhit Kalon, General Director of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih:
– As one of the responsible partners for the development of Kryvyi Rih, we feel great support from the administration and leadership of the city, as well as from Mr. Vilkul. For a long time we talked with him about the possibility of creating an industrial park in our city. The emergence of this museum could be the first step towards this dream.
The exposition is located on the territory adjacent to the management of the mining department. There are 14 exhibits that were previously operated by miners in various divisions of the enterprise, stands with information about the work of the mining department, as well as the walk of fame of its best workers.
Among the main production exhibits are a 180-ton diesel locomotive, a 45-ton BelAZ, a 14-ton electric locomotive and even a covered wagon produced in the 50s of the last century. Ore-dressing factories No. 1 and No. 2 provided pumps and a drum-separator with a bath for the museum exposition. A 20-ton truck crane, a long-length crane, an 18-ton crane and other overall equipment of the enterprise and contractors were used to transport the exhibits.
At the opening ceremony, the best workers of the mining department were awarded and the keys from four new BelAZ trucks were handed over by representatives of the manufacturing company. Then all those present were invited to the first tour of the museum.
Igor Sokol, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine:
– With great pleasure I accepted the invitation to take part in the opening of the open-air museum. I would like one of the objects of the exposition – our Belarusian BelAZ – to become the personification of the Belarusian-Ukrainian friendship, our partnership and cooperation. I would also like to see as many such exhibits and symbols of our friendship as possible in Ukraine.
Yury Vilkul, Mayor of Krivoy Rog:
– Every corner of our city should be beautiful and comfortable. The Mining Department of PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” made an excellent birthday present for all residents of the city. Kryvyi Rih is the leader in Ukraine among cities with industrial tourism. This museum is another place where you can learn about the history of our region and the development of the mining industry. I am glad that PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is one of our main social partners.
Petr Parkhomchik, General Director of OJSC BelAZ:
General Director of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine and the Mayor of Krivoy Rog opened a museum of mining equipment – I sincerely greet everyone on behalf of the Belarusian automobile plant BelAZ. It celebrates 70 years this year. And this exhibit – a 40-ton BelAZ, which at one time worked in quarries for many years – is young and beautiful again today. I would like all the equipment that we will supply to look just as beautiful after 10, 15 and more years. I think that children watching various equipment in the open air will eventually work on modern technology. I would like to present a miniature gift to the General Director of PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” Paramzhit Kalon – this is a 136 tonne dump truck, the most popular in Kryvyi Rih, which is used in large quantities in open pits.
Vladimir Teslyuk, Deputy General Director for Production of the Mining Department of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih:
– We hope that families with children and groups of schoolchildren will often come here. Creating a museum of mining equipment, we set ourselves the goal of telling about the work of miners in an interesting and accessible way, choosing the most interesting exhibits so that children and young people, seeing the power and dimensions of mining equipment, in the future would want to connect their lives with the mining industry. We created the Museum of Mining Equipment with our own hands. The employees of the mining department thought over the concept, selected the exhibits. Contractors who work at our facilities helped with the transportation of equipment and landscaping. Everyone who worked on the creation of the museum did it for free with the sole purpose of raising the image of the miner’s profession.
The museum is located at st. Enrichment, 57. For residents and guests
