Kryvyi Rih, February 5, 2021 ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih summed up the results of labor protection in 2020. The company continues to invest in improving working conditions, providing workers with special clothing and footwear, personal protective equipment, as well as implementing measures to reduce injuries and increase the level of industrial safety. Investments in labor protection amounted to UAH 380,700,000 in 2020. Last year, the company registered 34 loss of working days (LTI) among its own personnel and contractors. Three of them were fatal accidents (two with employees of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and one with an employee of a contractor). The overall accident rate at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih in 2020 (including subsidiaries in Ukraine) was 0.61. The injuries were predominantly related to the fall of the injured. In second place were the exposure of workers to high temperatures, as well as injuries as a result of the action of parts, parts of equipment and objects moving apart and rotating. Most of the injuries occurred for organizational reasons – violation of labor and production discipline 38% of injured workers are not new to production, their work experience in the profession is more than 10 years.The cause of injuries is in performing habitual actions with low attention during work. 24% of injuries occur among young workers with 1 year of experience in production This category of employees requires careful monitoring of compliance with labor protection requirements and rules. This is what ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih requires from its own personnel, and from all contractors within the framework of cooperation. For new employees, special training programs on labor protection are being developed upon hiring. 22 to 25 Sept November 2020, the TMS certification organization conducted an audit of the labor protection management system “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” for compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 45001: 2018 Following the audit, the company received a certificate of conformity.
