Results of activities of the MMC of Ukraine in December and for 12 months of 2018

According to the data specified during the balance meeting at Ukrmetallurgprom, in December 2018 the following was produced:

– pig iron – 1.83 million tons (112% compared to November 2018);

– steel – 1.89 million tons (114%);

– rolled products – 1.52 million tons (103%).

The increase in the production level in December 2018 compared to November 2018 was primarily due to the completion of overhaul and preventive maintenance of the main metallurgical units at a number of enterprises.

For 12 months of 2018 produced:

– iron ore concentrate – 60.32 million tons (99.7% compared to the same period in 2017);

– agglomerate – 31.68 million tons (103%);

– pellets – 21.36 million tons (106%);

– gross coke (6% wet) – 10.83 million tons (104%);

– pig iron – 20.56 million tons (102% taking into account the work in January-February 2017 of enterprises on tubing and 105% without taking them into account);

– steel – 21.1 million tons (98.5% and 101%, respectively);

– rolled products – 18.36 million tons (100% and 103%, respectively);

– pipe products – 1.1 million tons (106%).

As of January 16, 2019, of the main operating production facilities in operation are: 20 of 21 blast furnaces, 8 of 9 open-hearth furnaces, 15 of 16 converters, 6 of 15 electric furnaces and 15 of 15 continuous casting machines.

According to the forecasts of the OP “Ukrmetallurgprom” in February 2019, the production of the main types of products will be: pig iron – about 1.6 million tons, steel – 1.7 million tons, rolled products – 1.5 million tons.

Providing enterprises with basic raw materials and energy resources in December and for 12 months of 2018

Provision of iron ore raw materials

In December 2018, about 2.5 million tons of iron ore raw materials were supplied to metallurgical enterprises (according to updated data, 111% relative to November 2018). No iron ore was imported in December.

For 12 months of 2018, domestic enterprises received about 29.5 million tons of iron ore raw materials (110% relative to 2017, taking into account the activities of enterprises on tubing in January-February 2017, or 113% without taking them into account), of which:

– Ukrainian origin – 29.48 million tons (110% and 113%, respectively);

– imported – 25 thousand tons (25% relative to 2017).

Iron ore exports in December 2018 amounted to about 3.04 million tons (100% versus November 2018), and for 12 months of 2018 – 36.9 million tons (98% versus 2017).

Supply of coking coal

In December 2018, 1.3 million tons of coking coal (102% compared to November 2018) were supplied to coke-chemical plants, of which:

– Ukrainian origin – 0.27 million tons (111% compared to November 2018);

– imported – 1.03 million tons (100% relative to November 2018).

In total, over 12 months of 2018, coke enterprises received 14.67 million tons of coking coal (103% compared to 2017, taking into account the activities in January-February 2017 of enterprises on tubing or 107% without taking them into account), of which:

– of Ukrainian origin – 2.69 million tons (78% and 84%, respectively);

– imported – 11.98 million tons (111% and 114%, respectively).

The share of imported coals in the total supply for the 12 months of 2018 amounted to 81.7% versus 75.9% in 2017, taking into account enterprises using tubing and 76.7% without taking them into account.

Coke supply

In December 2018, 815 thousand tons of coke were supplied to Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises (104% compared to November 2018), of which:

– Ukrainian origin – 787 thousand tons (101% compared to November 2018);

– imported – 28 thousand tons (in October and November 2018, no coke was imported by import).

The total volume of coke produced by metallurgists in 12 months of 2018 amounted to 9.54 million tons (100% relative to 2017, taking into account the activities of enterprises on tubing in January-February 2017, or 103% without taking them into account), of which:

– Ukrainian origin – 9.22 million tons (107% and 110%, respectively);

– imported – 0.32 million tons (34%).

At the same time, the share of imported coke in the total supply amounted to 3.4%.

Provision of imported scrap metal

In December 2018, scrap collecting organizations procured 317 thousand tons of scrap metal (101% compared to November 2018), of which 309 thousand tons were delivered to domestic metallurgical enterprises (100% compared to November 2018), 8 thousand tons were exported. tons (200% relative to November 2018).

For 12 months of 2018, out of the procured 3.67 million tons of scrap (98% against 2017), 3.34 million tons (103% against 2017) were delivered to Ukrainian consumers, 0.33 million tons were exported (67 % relative to 2017).
