In Ukraine, quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic was introduced on March 12. The Zaporizhstal plant got involved in the fight against the pandemic as quickly as possible. Based on the recommendations of the WHO and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus, created at the enterprise, has developed and implemented a number of effective measures that made it possible to maximally protect the team from the outbreak of the pandemic and reduce the threat to Zaporizhstal residents.
“The crisis in metallurgy is significantly aggravating the pandemic. At this time, we must focus our efforts on preserving our collective and our jobs, our plant. Speaking about joint efforts, I am talking not only about the measures developed by the management of the plant, but also about their strict observance by all employees of the enterprise, without exception. Now, more than ever, it is important to show how we can work in a team – both in solving production problems and in countering a pandemic, “- stressed the General Director of Zaporizhstal Alexander Mironenko.
Among the measures to reduce the risk of morbidity is the provision of the plant means of protection. Masks, gloves, disinfectants for hand treatment – all this was acquired by the plant from the first days of quarantine and provided employees, despite the excitement for these groups of goods in the markets. During the quarantine period, the plant purchased more than 850 thousand masks and pairs of gloves, as well as more than 8 thousand liters of disinfectants for hand treatment.
The plant paid special attention to temperature screening. A multi-level temperature control system for employees has been built: at the first stage, all employees enter the enterprise through the main checkpoints of the plant, equipped with video cameras with built-in thermal imagers. Mandatory temperature control is also carried out before the start of the work shift. In addition, during the working day, mobile teams ply at the enterprise, which, using specially purchased non-contact thermometers, take temperature measurements.
In the fight against the pandemic, the plant also decided to purchase and equip health centers, main checkpoints and canteens of the enterprise recirculators, which ensure continuous disinfection of indoor air.
The plant has already allocated more than UAH 14 million to combat the coronavirus.
Among additional measures to combat coronavirus, the frequency of cleaning household premises has been significantly increased , offices, canteens and canteens with the use of disinfectants.
The plant has significantly expanded the logistics of passenger transportation: daily more than 60 buses provide more than 230 flights, delivering more than 2000 employees to the plant. During the prohibition of transport communication between the regional center and the district ones, corporate routes were introduced to deliver employees from the suburbs to their shift and home. The daily mileage of corporate buses exceeds 4500 km.
In addition, twice a day, all transport is disinfected, and with it the bus stops on the territory of the enterprise.
