A Kazakh oligarch, one of the founders and owners of the Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), Alijan Ibragimov, has died, the ERG press service reported.
“We are sorry to inform you that on February 3, 2021, at the age of 67, one of the founders, a member of the ERG Board of Directors, Alidzhan Rakhmanovich Ibragimov, passed away,” the company said.
A number of media reported that Ibragimov fell ill with COVID-19 in Kazakhstan, received treatment in Belgium. The company denied information that the cause of Ibragimov’s death was a coronavirus infection.
Ibragimov, together with Alexander Mashkevich and Patokh Shodiev, owned 60% of ERG shares. The rest of the share in the company belongs to the Kazakh government.
Ibragimov also owned a share in Eurasian Financial Company JSC (which includes Eurasian Bank, Eurasia Insurance Company).
According to the newspaper ” Forbes Kazakhstan “, Ibragimov in 2020 ranked fifth in the list of the richest people in Kazakhstan with a fortune of $ 900 million.
