Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal hopes that a memorandum of cooperation with the IMF will be signed by the end of May. He spoke about this during a video re-negotiation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. He also expressed hope that cooperation with the IMF on the Stand-by program, which is now being discussed, will allow receiving $ 5 billion, of which $ 3.5 billion will be directed to the 2020 state budget.
“This is not only financial support. This is a guarantee of receiving funds from other international financial organizations and an indicator that we are on the path of systemic reforms, ”the prime minister said. During a meeting of the Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko noted that negotiations between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund are impossible without the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the law on banks, which, in particular, makes it impossible for Privatbank to return to the former owner Igor Kolomoisky.
On May 8, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy recommended to the parliament to consider an abbreviated table of amendments to the bill on banks.
