Russia in April 2020 reduced the production of rolled steel by 7.1% compared to March, Rosstat reported.
In comparison with April 2019, rolled steel production increased by 0.2%.
The production of rolled products in January-April this year increased by 1.3% compared to the same period last year, to 20.6 million tons.
The production of pig iron (mirror and pig iron in pigs, billets, etc.) in April compared with March fell by 6.4%, compared with April last year, the increase was 1.9%.
In four months, pig iron production increased by 2.6% to 17.5 million tons.
The output of unalloyed steel in ingots and semi-finished products last month decreased by 2.3% compared to March, and by April 2019 this figure fell by 1.5%. In January-April, the production of such steel fell by 1.8% to 19.2 million tons.
The production of steel pipes and fittings in April increased by 16.9% compared to March, and compared to April 2019 – decreased by 23%. In four months, production of steel pipes and fittings fell 9.2% year-on-year to 3.6 million tonnes.
Rosstat did not publish absolute figures for the production of rolled products, pig iron, steel and pipes last month.
