On June 3, the National Bank of Ukraine will put into circulation a 10 hryvnia coin, which will gradually replace the corresponding banknotes. This was reported by the press service of the NBU. “First of all, the National Bank will put into circulation more than 5 million coins with a face value of 10 hryvnias.
They have already been distributed among the divisions of the National Bank in the regions (Kiev, Dnipro, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkov, Khmelnitsky). From today, banks can receive updated banknotes at the National Bank and issue them to their clients, ”the message says. It is noted that the new coin is larger than the 1.2 and 5 hryvnia coins.
“In particular, it has a group with special large corrugation, which will make it easy to distinguish it from everyday coins of other denominations,” added the bank. In Ukraine, since 2014, the process of optimization and updating of the hryvnia banknote and coinage has been continuing, in order to ensure mainly the circulation of banknotes that are more secure from crumbling and the convenience of cash payments. The introduction of new everyday 10 hryvnia coins is expected to complete this process.
