The International Monetary Fund supports the government’s initiatives on the issue of gas and electricity tariffs, Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine. “The issue of transparent tariff setting has always been the subject of interest of the IMF. But now we see from the IMF support for the government’s initiatives in this matter, ”Marchenko said.
He clarified that the issue of tariffs is not raised within the framework of the Stand-by program. On May 22, it became known that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has agreed with the Ukrainian authorities at the staff level on a new deal worth $ 5 billion to help Kiev cope with the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Minister of Finance, the meeting of the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund is expected on June 5.
