Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich (MMK, Donetsk region), a member of Metinvest Group, has completed comprehensive hot tests of new and reconstructed aspiration systems of blast furnace (BF) No. 3, investments in the environmental project amounted to more than $ 31 million.
According to the company’s press release on Thursday, all processes are fine-tuned, the equipment is operating at design capacity.
It is specified that the design, construction of new and reconstruction of the existing treatment equipment at DP-3 continued 19 months. The start-up of the aspiration units of the casting yard and the bunker rooms in test mode was carried out in conjunction with the start-up of DP No. 3 after overhaul in February.
The effectiveness of the applied technology is confirmed daily. New aspiration installations ensure residual dust content, which is two and a half times lower than Ukrainian standards, and the captured dust is sent daily for processing as recyclable materials.
