Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich (MMK, Donetsk region), part of the Metinvest Group, is completing one of the largest environmental projects in the history of independent Ukraine – the reconstruction of the sinter plant of the metallurgical plant, investments in which amounted to more than $ 150 million.
According to the company’s press release on Thursday, Italian specialists arrived at the enterprise to install the software, as well as cold and hot scrolling of the equipment for the workshop’s aspiration system.
It is noted that, despite the pandemic, Metinvest “continued to carry out a key environmental project: construction and installation work on the installation of complexes for a new two-stage purification of sinter gases and sintering zones for 12 sintering machines in the sinter shop at the Ilyich MMK. The first stage is coarse dust removal using modern Italian cyclones HURRICLONE, the second is gas post-treatment from dust and sulfur compounds in powerful bag filters, which reduce dust emissions by more than 10 times.
The press service explains, that the installation of the software was planned for the first quarter of 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, Italian specialists left the country in early spring, without installing all the equipment necessary for further debugging. To date, thanks to the relaxation of quarantine measures, Italian specialists have been able to proceed with the completion of the project.
