Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises will reduce steel production by 3%

By the end of 2020, metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine are expected to reduce steel production by 3% compared to 2019 – to 20.318 million tons.

As reported in the background documents of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, which the agency “Interfax-Ukraine” has, the production of general rolled products will decrease by 0.3% – to 18.155 million tons, pig iron smelting will remain at the level of the previous year – 20.065 mln tons.

The forecast is based on production indicators for January-June of this year, summarized by the Ukrmetallurgprom association, the ministry specified.

At the same time, the agency’s source added that while maintaining the existing supply trends scrap metal at metallurgical enterprises in 2020 will decrease by 12% – to 2.631 million tons.

Pipe production this year may fall by 20% – to 820 thousand tons, coke will decrease by 4% – to 9.673 million tons , refractories by 14%, to 216 thousand tons.

As Ukrmetallurgprom reported, in January-June, gross coke (6% moisture content) was produced – 4.810 million tons (92.7% of 6 months .-2019), pig iron – 9.977 million tons (97.4%), steel – 10.104 million tons (92.4 %), rolled products – 9.028 million tonnes (95.3%), pipe products – 410 thousand tonnes (70.6%).

Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in 2019 reduced steel production by 1% compared to from 2018 – up to 20.843 million tons, production of general rolled products – also by 1%, to 18.214 million tons, pig iron production fell by 2%, to 20.056 million tons, gross coke by 7.1%, to 10.06 million tons , pipe products – by 8.8%, to 1.005 million tons.
