Weekly crude steel production in the US posted a notable 44.6% increase during the week ending June 19, 2021, compared to the same week in 2020. This is in line with the latest weekly domestic production statistics published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Weekly US crude steel production was 1.839 million tonnes. The utilization rate of the production capacity of the domestic plant was 82.90%. It should be noted that production was only 1.272 million tonnes with a much lower capacity utilization rate of 56.8% during the corresponding week a year earlier. In addition, weekly production of crude steel rose slightly over the week by 0.3%. For the week ended June 12, 2021, production was 1.834 million tonnes.
