According to the World Steel Association (worldsteel), world crude steel production fell 2.2% in November compared with the previous month, but rose 6.6% year on year, reaching 158.3 million tons.
Of these, Asia produced 116.4 million tonnes of steel, increasing production by 8.3% year on year. Steel production in the 28 EU countries amounted to 12.8 million tons, which is 5.5% more than in November 2019.
In addition, during the reporting period, steel production in Turkey amounted to 3.2 million tons, which is 11.6% more than a year earlier; in the CIS, 8.2 million tons of steel were produced, which is 7% more than in November 2019.
In North America, steel production was 8.5 million tonnes in November, down 10.8% year on year; Steel production in South America increased by 8.3% year on year to 3.6 million tonnes.
