Member of the County of Wales Mr. Nick Smith called on the UK government to use every opportunity to use UK steel products that will help the economy recover from the coronavirus.
It was planned to invest 640 billion GPB in infrastructure projects that will provide significant support to skilled steelworkers and the entire supply chain in the steel industry. However, the UK government has no real guidance yet.
According to the data, less than half of the steel purchased by the government was from the UK. There was an urgent need to support the UK steel industry, especially in the heart of future green industries such as wind turbines, electric vehicles and charging stations. Moreover, cheap imports can create an uneven playing field for UK companies and create risks for businesses and jobs.
