The world’s leading steel producers

The total steel production in the first eleven months of 2020 amounted to 1.670 billion tonnes.

Crude steel production by countries around the world reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) recorded a notable increase during November 2020. The monthly production statistics show that production in 64 countries increased by almost 6.6% over the previous year.

World production of crude steel in November this year amounted to 158.261 million tons, compared with production of 148.417 million tons a year earlier. China, India and Japan continued to be among the three largest steel producers in the world. Of the top steel producers, China and India posted higher steel output than the previous year, while Japanese output fell.

Cumulative steel production in the first eleven months of 2020 was 1.670 billion tonnes. For comparison, in January-November 2019, smelting amounted to 1.692 million tons.
