Turkey has reduced import duties on some pipes and flat products, which were increased in May 2020 due to the pandemic, to their previous levels.
Imports from third countries other than the EU and FTA countries, as well as Malaysia and Singapore, which are in transition to FTAs, will be subject to duties. FTA countries include the EU and EFTA countries, Israel, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Egypt, Georgia, Albania, Chile, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Mauritius, Moldova, Faroe Islands, and South Korea.
In addition, imports sold under the Internal Processing Regime will be exempt from the additional duty.
The import duty on hot-rolled coils under the TN VED codes 720890801012 and 720890802012 has been reduced from 14% to 9%.
For cold-rolled coils code 720990802919 and alloyed coils code 722599000090, the import duty has been reduced from 10% to 5%.
The import duty on alloy steel wire under the TN VED codes 722920000012, 722990500012 and 722990900012 has been reduced from 11% to 6%.
The import duty on steel pipes and profiles under the TN VED codes 7304 and 7306 has been reduced from 10% to 5%.
Recently, flat steel consumers in Turkey have been complaining about material shortages. Turkey is believed to have not extended the increased import duties in the new year due to these complaints.
