Swedish special steel producer SSAB intended to acquire Tata Steel IJmuiden’s business in the Netherlands as a back-up plan for a deal with ThyssenKrupp AG. However, a Tata Steel spokesman did not comment on this assumption.
SSAB was known to be in discussions with ThyssenKrupp about the takeover of ThyssenKrupp’s steel division. However, Liberty Steel Group subsequently applied for the acquisition of ThyssenKrupp’s steel division.
