According to the Italian association of steel producers Federacciai, crude steel production in Italy in October amounted to about 2.1 million tonnes, down 4.64% over the same period last year.
The main reason for the overall drop in output was the sharp drop in sheet output by more than 10%. According to the data, the monthly output of sheets amounted to only 882 thousand tons, which is 11.98% less than in the same period last year.
Part of the reason for the decline in production was the fact that the Arvedi sheet mill did not resume fully normal production after the COVID-19 outbreak. Another plant was hit by the strike and continued to operate at low speed. The current sheet capacity is only 2 million tons per year.
