Steel production in India in October increased to 9 million

According to the World Steel Association (worldsteel), steel production in India increased slightly by 0.9% to 9.058 million tons in October 2020.

The latest report from the global industry organization said the country produced 8,981 tons of steel in the same month last year.

“Production of crude steel in 64 countries reporting to worldsteel was 161,890 metric tons in October 2020, up 7 percent from 151,248 metric tons in October 2019.

“Due to the ongoing difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, many of this month’s numbers are estimates that could be revised with a production update next month,” worldsteel said.

According to worldsteel, China’s October 2020 steel production rose 12.7% year-on-year to 92.202 million tons, up from 81.781 million tons in the same period last year.

U.S. steel production in October 2020 was 6.143 tonnes, down 15.3% from 7,250 tonnes.

Steel production in Japan fell 11.7% to 7,200 tons from 8,150 tons a year ago.

Steel production in South Korea fell 1.8% to 5.859 million tonnes in the month under review, compared to 5.964 million tonnes in the same period last year.

Steel production in Germany increased by 3.1% to 3.417 million tons against 3.315 million tons.

Steel production in Italy was 2.119 million tons in October 2020, down 4.6% from 2.222 million tons a year earlier.

In October 2020, France produced 1,065 tons of steel, which is 9.9% less than a year earlier. Steel production in Spain was 1.113 million tons, down 7.7% from a year earlier.

“In October 2020, Brazil produced 2.784 million tons of steel, which is 3.5% more than in October 2019. Steel production in Turkey in October 2020 amounted to 3.208 million tons, which is 19.4% more than in October 2019, “- said in a statement worldsteel.
