Steel production in Turkey increased in April

According to the Turkish Manufacturers Association iron and steel (TCUD), Turkey produced about 3.3 million tonnes of crude steel in April, up 46.6% from the same month last year. Consumption of finished metal products for the reporting period amounted to 3 million tons, an increase of 111.5% compared to the same period last year.

In the first four months of this year, crude steel production in Turkey reached 13.1 million tonnes, almost 17% more than last year. Consumption of finished steel products increased by 30.8% year-on-year to 1.2 million tonnes.

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic last year, the base of production and consumption in April last year was low, leading to a significant increase in two indicators in April.
