Weekly production of crude steel in the United States recorded a marked increase of 37.7% for the week ending July 17, 2021, compared to the same week in 2020. This is in line with the latest weekly domestic production statistics published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Weekly US crude steel production was 1.859 million tonnes. The utilization rate of the production capacity of the domestic plant was 84.1% It should be noted that during the corresponding week of 2020, production was only 1.350 million tonnes, with a much lower capacity utilization rate of 60.3%.
Cumulative year-to-date adjusted crude steel production in the United States was 50.787 million tonnes for the week ended July 17, 2021. This is 17.8% more than the production volume, which amounted to 43.114 million tons in the same period in 2020.
