US steel consumers urge Biden to cancel Section 232 tariffs

The Coalition of American Steel Producers and Consumers (CAMMU), which represents more than 30,000 companies and a million workers, is calling on President Biden to lift section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum, which were enacted three years ago.

It argued that steel and aluminum tariffs would harm US light industry and small producers. During the epidemic, the tariff also led to the current deficit in the supply of rolled metal and a rapid increase in prices for it.

In such circumstances, the limited capacity of US steel mills cannot meet the demand of US steelmakers for US steel products, or steelmakers cannot buy steel at competitive prices.
