British Steel announced that Covid-19 continues to have a serious impact on people and businesses around the world, and British Steel is working hard to overcome the challenges we and our customers face. It states: “Trading conditions in our markets remain challenging, including for products manufactured by our Special Profiles business in Skinningrove.
Earlier this year, we suspended production at our Special Shaped Plant in Skinningrove for three weeks and returned to work in April. Since then, they have continued to produce the high quality products for which the plant is famous, which allows us to serve the demand in the market. However, as the market remains tough, we have now decided to temporarily suspend production again at Skinningrove for three weeks starting on Saturday 13 June. As long as a small number of employees remain in place, about 300 of our people will be deceived. We appreciate that this will be a troubling time for our people, especially those working on our specialties, but this is a temporary measure and, like last time, we will try to resume production as soon as possible. ”
He added: “We thank all of our employees for their continued commitment and flexibility. This has been a challenging time for all of us, and we could not continue to safely fulfill customer orders and support the UK economy’s recovery without their dedication. We also thank Jingye for their unwavering commitment to the business, as well as our customers, suppliers and contractors, union colleagues and government for their valuable support. ”
