The Board of Directors of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has appointed Kevin Dempsey as its new president and chief executive officer. He succeeded Thomas J. Gibson. It should be noted that Dempsey was the interim president and chief executive officer of the association. Prior to that, he was AISI’s Senior Vice President for Public Policy and General Counsel.
John Brett, Chairman of AISI, noted that Kevin Dempsey has been the driving force behind steel industry advocacy for many years. He added that AISI member companies have full confidence in Kevin’s leadership and expertise, especially at a time when the global steel industry is facing not only a global pandemic, but also unfair trade practices and a huge global overcapacity in steel production.
Commenting on his appointment, Dempsey said he is honored and privileged to continue to work in the US steel industry. Industry is the cornerstone of our economy and the backbone of the country’s manufacturing sector. Moreover, it is critical to its national security. Dempsey said he looks forward to working with member companies and partners to continue this momentum.
