On the Ukrainian interbank foreign exchange market, the hryvnia for the first time after the announcement of the resignation of the former NBU chairman Yakov Smoliya returned to a wide corridor of 26.5-27 hryvnia per dollar. According to Finance.ua, trading on July 6 ended at the level of 26 hryvnia 92-95 kopecks per unit of American currency, this happened for the first time since July 1. The National Bank reflected the change in trend, only partially, setting the official rate of 27 hryvnia 13 kopecks per dollar on July 7.
The regulator usually focuses on trading before 13:00, and not in the closing hours of the session, when speculative factors may operate on a low-volume market. The national currency was in a wide corridor of 26.5-27 hryvnia per dollar for more than two months – from late April to early July. The statement of the ex-NBU head Yakov Smoliy about his resignation through political pressure on him caused an increase in quotations to 27 hryvnia 20 kopecks per dollar and even higher.
During the last two trading sessions, the situation has stabilized.
