The National Bank of Ukraine has set on Monday, May 18, the rate of 26 hryvnia 64 kopecks per dollar. This is four kopecks less than the official exchange rate on May 15. Throughout the session on May 15, the hryvnia strengthened against the US currency in the interbank market – from the initial level of 26 hryvnia 65-68 kopecks to the final 26 hryvnia 61-63 kopecks, according to the data of the Ministry of Finance website.
The growth of the hryvnia would have been even more noticeable had it not been for the redemption of excess dollar supply by the regulator. The NBU entered the market twice, redeeming the dollar, first at 26.66, then at 26.63 hryvnia per unit of American currency.
