Work on the reconstruction of the Paton Bridge in Kiev may begin in the near future after the completion of the design work, while there are no plans to block traffic, according to the website of the Mayor of Kiev Vitaly Klitschko.
“Bridge is in disrepair. And in the near future we will be able to carry out the design and begin work on its reconstruction. The city has finally received all the necessary approvals from the state authorities for this. I would like to note that we will not completely block traffic. Because the Paton Bridge is it is one of the important transport arteries connecting the right bank of the Dnieper with the left, “Klitschko said during an online press conference on Friday.
According to him, a complete reconstruction, according to preliminary estimates of experts, will cost about 7 billion UAH.
The mayor noted that it is planned to replace the reinforced concrete monolithic slab with a steel one, which will greatly facilitate the construction of the bridge.
“The reconstruction plan also provides for additional new lane. That is, in general, there will be eight of them. The reverse lane, along which a lot of accidents occur on the bridge, will definitely be removed. They will also arrange a modern barrier between traffic directions. Bicycle paths will be arranged, “Klitschko said.
The Paton Bridge was commissioned in 1953. The international highway E95, several trolleybus and bus routes pass along it.
