Interpipe increased steel production by 16.5% in January-June this year

Ukrainian industrial company “Interpipe” in January-June this year increased steel production by 16.5% compared to the same period last year – up to 458.1 thousand tons.

As reported in the monthly report of the company on Monday, for the six months of 2021, the production of pipes increased by 12.8% – to 263.5 thousand tons, the production of railway products decreased by 19.3% – to 82.1 thousand tons .

It is also reported that pipes in January-June of this year were sold in Europe (28%), the MENA region (26%), Ukraine (17%), the CIS (11%), on the American continent (15%) and in other regions (3%). In June, pipes were sold in Europe (22%), Ukraine (17%), the MENA region (28%), the CIS (12%), the American continent (18%) and other regions (3%).

Railway products for six months of 2021 were sold in the CIS (45%), Europe (32%), Ukraine (9%), the MENA region (3%), the American continent (6%) and other regions ( 3%). According to the commentary of Interpipe, in June-2021 the total sales of pipe products increased by 23.3% to the previous month – up to 59.6 thousand tons, and by 9.1% in 6 months-2021 to 6 months. -2020, up to 257.8 thousand tons.

Sales of pipes in the oil and gas segment (OCTG) in June increased by 49.3% versus May – up to 19 thousand tons amid strong demand from US consumers and the CIS. In the six months of 2021, sales volumes increased by 59.1% to 70.5 thousand tonnes, thanks to the recovery in drilling activity worldwide.

Sales of line pipes in June increased by 19.1%, to 35.5 thousand tons amid growing demand in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in Ukraine. Moreover, for 6 months. growth amounted to 3.5%, to 150.6 thousand tons.

Sales of general-purpose pipes (so-called mechanical pipes) in June decreased by 5.5% compared to May, to 2.1 thousand tons. Growth in sales to Europe and the Customs Union largely offset the decline in sales in the United States, the Middle East and North Africa, and Ukraine. In January-June, sales of such pipes amounted to 10.6 thousand tons, with an increase of 16.7% compared to six months of 2020.

Sales of welded pipes in June continued to deteriorate in all markets (decreased by 15.5% by May, up to 3.1 thousand tons). At the same time, the rise in prices on the hot-rolled steel market in June decreased – the average price for HRC FOB Black Sea fell by $ 41 /tonne compared to the previous month. For the six months of 2021, sales of welded pipes decreased by 29.9% – to 26.2 thousand tons.

The volume of sales of railway products in June increased by 2.9% versus May, to 15.5%, but decreased by 20.6% in 6 months-2021, to 83 thousand tons. At the same time, it is noted that the sales of railway products have consistently exceeded 15 thousand tons for the second month in a row against the background of high demand for wheels in the CIS countries, Europe, Ukraine, India, Turkey and North America.

As reported, Interpipe in 2020 reduced steel production by 11.2% compared to the previous year – to 758.7 thousand tons, pipe production decreased by 20.9% – to 464 thousand tons, production of railway products – by 8.3%, up to 190.6 thousand tons.

Pipes in 2020 were sold in Europe (29%), MENA region (24%), Ukraine (22%), CIS (11%) , in the Americas (11%) and in other regions (3%). Railway products last year were sold in the CIS (43%), Europe (35%), Ukraine (14%), the MENA region (4%), the American continent (3%) and other regions (1%).

Interpipe in 2020 reduced its net profit by 4.2 times compared to the previous year – to $ 195.116 million from $ 828.656 million, revenue decreased by 22.9% compared to 2019 – to $ 865.131 million The company received $ 273 million in EBITDA, which is 6% more than in the previous year. Capital investments in 2020 decreased by 26% to $ 44 million.
