On the Ukrainian interbank foreign exchange market, after two days, when quotations fluctuated around the mark of 28.3 hryvnia per dollar, the strengthening of the American currency resumed. As of 13:10 on October 1, according to Finance.ua, quotes reached 28 hryvnia 33-35 kopecks, the devaluation of the hryvnia continued throughout the first part of the session. “The entrance to the auctions of Citibank (acts in the interests of Western investors in Ukrainian government bonds – ed.) With the purchase of currency allowed sellers and speculators to actively overstate quotations due to the growth in demand,” experts of the Ministry of Finance website note.
Bidders inform that after 12 noon the National Bank of Ukraine appeared on the market with the offer of the dollar at 28 hryvnia 35 kopecks. The noon regulator set a reference value of the rate of 28 hryvnia 33 kopecks per dollar, which is 2 kopecks more than the official rate on October 1. The slow but constant weakening of the hryvnia against the dollar has continued since mid-August.
On August 17, trading ended at UAH 27, 23.5-25.5 kopecks per unit of American currency.
